You spent time on your install. You want it to last. Here's exactly how to get the most out of your wig glue and make your lace stay flawless for up to 15 days.
Step 1 - Prep your skin properly
This is the step most people skip and it's the reason your install lifts after two days. Before applying any glue, clean your hairline thoroughly with a gentle cleanser or alcohol-free toner. Remove all oils, moisturizers and residue. Your skin needs to be completely clean and dry for the glue to bond properly.
Step 2 - Apply thin layers, never one thick layer
The most common mistake is applying too much glue at once. One thick layer takes longer to dry, creates an uneven bond, and lifts faster.
Instead, apply 3 thin layers of Cabell Waterproof Lace Wig Glue, letting each layer dry completely before applying the next. You'll know it's ready when the glue turns from white to clear and feels tacky to the touch.
For a hold that lasts up to 15 days, apply 1 additional layers for a total of 4. But remember, they need to be super thin layers.
Step 3 - Press and secure with a melt band
Once your lace is placed on the tacky glue, press firmly along your entire hairline. Then tie down with a satin melt band for a minimum of 15 minutes. This step is non-negotiable if you want a long-lasting install. The pressure creates a stronger bond between the lace and the glue.
Step 4 - Finish with melting spray
Once the glue is fully dry and your melt band is off, apply a light layer of Cabell Lace Wig Melting Spray along your hairline. This blends the lace into your skin for an invisible, natural finish and adds an extra layer of hold.
For glueless wigs, the melting spray alone can give you a clean, natural melt without any adhesive on your skin.
Step 5 - Protect your install at night
How you sleep matters. Wrap your hairline with a satin scarf, our satin melt band or use a satin pillowcase every night. Cotton absorbs moisture and creates friction that breaks down your adhesive faster. Satin keeps your edges intact and your install lasting longer.
Step 6 - Avoid oil-based products near your hairline
Oil breaks down adhesive. Keep serums, edge controls and heavy moisturizers away from your hairline during wear. If you need to moisturize your edges, apply product to the hair only not the skin.
How long should your install last?
With proper prep and application, Cabell Waterproof Lace Wig Glue holds for up to 15 days. Factors like skin type, activity level, and climate can affect wear time but following these steps gives you the best chance at a long-lasting, flawless install.
